Real reason Lana Del Rey SKIPPED Taylor Swift’s star-studded wedding

Given their years of friendship, Lana Del Rey was one of the most anticipated celebrity guests at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding. 

However, it turns out that Del Rey, 41, was one of the few Hollywood A-listers that decided not to attend the star-studded nuptials.

Instead of celebrating Swift and Kelce’s happily ever after at Madison Square Garden with 1,000 other guests, Del Rey skipped the spectacle and went to a pal’s birthday party in Los Angeles.

While Swift and Kelce tied the knot, Del Rey and her sister Caroline Grant attended a small Fourth of July birthday bash for YouTuber Oli Abbas. 

Abbas posted a short video of himself with Del Rey at the party along with a touching caption.

‘My birthday was such an amazing day surrounded by my favorite people,’ he gushed.

Instead of going to the wedding, Del Rey attended a small birthday party for YouTuber Oli Abbas, who she has known since 2023

‘So thankful for @mrsremiashten for hosting and [Del Rey and Grant] for having us as well.’

Del Rey first met Abbas at the 2023 Billboard Women in Music Awards. The pair connected after the Summertime Sadness singer revealed that she was a fan of the influencer’s YouTube channel and their friendship grew from there. 

Her decision not to attend Swift’s wedding is a surprise considering how long the pair have known each other, which is much longer than her relatively new friendship with Abbas.

Not only have the two music superstars been friends for years, Del Rey even attended the Super Bowl LVIII with Swift to watch Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49ers.

At one point, they were believed to be so close that Rolling Stone speculated that Del Rey was going to perform her hit single Young & Beautiful at the nuptials. 

Daily Mail has contacted Swift’s publicist for comment.  

The pair first met over a decade ago at the 2012 MTV EMAs, where Del Rey took the stage to present Swift with the Best Female Artist award.

The two crossed paths briefly after that, but most notably rubbed shoulders at Lady Gaga’s 30th birthday bash in 2016.

Having a shared collaborator in Antonoff resulted in Del Rey and Swift finally working together in 2022 on the track Snow on the Beach from Swift’s album Midnights.

A few days after the 2024 Grammys, Del Rey attended the Super Bowl with Swift, who was there to support her then-boyfriend Kelce 

Not only did they walk the red carpet together, Swift even dragged Del Rey up on stage with her when she received Album of the Year for Midnights – which beat out Del Rey’s own album, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd.

Thanking the songstress in her acceptance speech, Swift gushed, ‘I think so many female artists would not be where they are and would not have the inspiration they have if it weren’t for the work that she’s done.’

She added, ‘I think she’s a legacy artist, a legend in her prime right now. I’m so lucky to know you and to be your friend.’

A few days after that, Del Rey attended the Super Bowl with Swift, who was there to support her then-boyfriend Kelce.

While Del Rey decided not to go to Swift’s wedding, she was perhaps the only celebrity that skipped the event. 

Swift’s impressive guest list included a who’s-who of famous faces, including Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez, Sabrina Carpenter, Jessica Alba, Emma Stone, Sombr, Benson Boone, Reese Witherspoon, Beck, Cindy Crawford, and hundreds of other stars.
