Country star Megan Moroney cancels concert mid-show in tears

Country star Megan Moroney burst into tears in the middle of a concert as she announced she would have to end the show early for health reasons.

The 28-year-old was only two songs into her scheduled performance at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado when she was forced to make her exit. 

Her voice hoarse, she informed the audience she was too ill to continue any longer, in fan footage that has circulated on TikTok.

‘This is obviously the last thing I want to do, but I am obviously extremely sick, and I thought I did everything to make myself better and then obviously two songs in, I just can’t play this show tonight,’ Moroney said.

‘But I do – I will make it up to you guys. I absolutely promise I’ll be back. You’ll be able to come. But I wanna give you guys the show you deserve.’

She dissolved into sobs as she told the crowd how ‘sorry’ she was, to which they responded by erupting into cheers of encouragement.

The Daily Mail has contacted a representative for Moroney for comment.

Moroney is currently on her Cloud 9 Tour in support of her album of the same name, with her next date set for this Saturday at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon.

Her bout of ill health comes days after country star Kacey Musgraves quietly canceled three upcoming shows – including the August concert in Chicago that was meant to open her Middle of Nowhere Tour – with no public explanation.

A number of country singers have stepped away from the stage this year, citing various personal concerns including physical and mental health.

Earlier this month, Zach John King announced that his father had ‘suddenly’ died and that he was ‘cancelling the next two weeks of shows to grieve with my family.’

Taylor Holder shared on May 11 that he had decided to ‘cancel my upcoming shows,’ writing on Instagram: ‘Over the past several months, I’ve been in a constant struggle with my mental health in ways that I can no longer ignore.’

The same day, Meghan Patrick posted a video explaining that she was rescheduling several of her tour dates to accommodate her pregnancy.

She said she was initially ‘determined not to slow down’ while expecting her baby by her husband Mitchell Tenpenny, because she ‘thought I had to prove that pregnancy wouldn’t change anything and that I could push through no matter what.’

However her conversations with her doctors and loved ones caused her to reverse course as she ‘realized my health and my baby girl’s wellbeing have to come first.’

Later that month, Jake Worthington posted more obliquely: ‘I have a life as my heroes did, but that life gotten a hold of me. I love my family my friends and my fans too much to let it take over me. I need to take some time to work on myself for my wife and daughter. I promise I will come back even better.’

Randall King posted to Facebook in March that he was scuttling his forthcoming live appearances in order to devote his attention to his family, religion and health.

‘My faith comes first and right now I don’t feel right stepping on stage without the confidence that I’m living as the man God has called me to be,’ he wrote. ‘For that reason, I’m pausing touring for the time being. I’m actively seeking professional help and focusing on my faith, my health/mental health, and my family.’

Chase Rice informed his fans in January that, after 13 years of consistent touring, he was ‘exhausted’ and had resolved to stay off the road in 2026.

‘I haven’t been able to be myself on stage in quite a while and really enjoy music and why I got into it in the first place,’ he wrote.

His touring career had ‘finally beat me up to the point where I need to step away for a while’ and ‘go live life so that I have more real experiences to write down.’ 

Last month, Justin Moore shared with fans that he had scrapped a number of upcoming shows for health reasons he initially left undisclosed.

When he returned to the stage in Knoxville, Illinois on July 9, he shared that he had withdrawn from the spotlight in order to spend 30 days in rehab, via People.

Moore explained that his ‘drinking got out of control’ and he ‘became a complete dumba**’ but that he had, by the time of that concert, achieved 31 days of sobriety.
