Boy Meets World alum Ben Savage makes rare outing in Santa Monica

Boy Meets World alum Ben Savage stepped out for a solo stroll in Santa Monica, California last Friday in a rare public sighting.

The 45-year-old former child star appeared in great spirits while clad in a navy-blue striped polo shirt, matching pants and canvas sneakers.

In 2022, Savage lost the election for West Hollywood City Council and, the next year, he was defeated by Laura Friedman while running for California’s 30th congressional district.

On Saturday, the Democratic politician shared a sweet snap via Instagram story of his wife Tessa Angermeier holding their seven-month-old daughter at a seaside party.

Savage originally met the graphic designer in 2018 and they wed three years ago.

The Stanford University grad hasn’t had an acting gig since 2022 when he portrayed kidnapper Felix/Nathaniel Kibby in Lifetime movie Girl in the Shed: The Kidnapping of Abby Hernandez.

Savage made his acting debut, at age eight, opposite his famous brother – The Wonder Years alum Fred Savage – in Richard Alan Greenberg’s 1989 horror-comedy Little Monsters.

The Chicago-born Israel supporter hasn’t spoken to his longtime co-stars Will Friedle, Danielle Fishel and Rider Strong in six years.

The foursome got their big break starring in the ABC sitcom Boy Meets World, which ran for seven seasons (1993-2000) and its Disney Channel spin-off Girl Meets World, which ran for three seasons (2014-2017).

‘There’s so many times I want to pick up the phone and still do,’ Fishel told People last month.

‘I know I’m shouting into the void, but I’m going to keep doing it. I haven’t given up on my friend. And I’m hoping that he comes back into our lives at some point, and when he does, we’re going to have a lot to talk about.’

The 45-year-old Pod Meets World co-host hasn’t seen Savage since he visited her in the NICU after her first child – son Adler Lawrence Karp – was born a month prematurely in June 2019.

‘I love imagining him in this new chapter of his life as a dad. I know he has had a baby girl. He’s now a husband. So I love just thinking about him [in that capacity],’ Fishel – who played his onscreen love interest – said.

Directors Chris Levitus and Zane Rubin’s documentary Doc Meets World – which premiered June 8 at the Tribeca Film Festival – captured Friedle, Fishel and Strong taping their rewatch podcast during a sold-out live national tour

‘We talked a lot about how he looked forward to being a dad someday. So I like imagining this phase of life that he’s in now. And it makes me sad sometimes when I think about the fact that I would love to just know, like, “How’s it going? What’s happening now? What are the milestones that are being checked off?”‘

Friedle – who played Ben’s onscreen big brother – insisted there was ‘no fight, falling out, or animosity’ before he ‘disappeared.’
